  • Approval of Minutes from December 12, 2017 Meeting
  • Review of December Financial Statements
  • Committee Appointments to Research Committee
    Recommendation: Re-appoint existing committee members, with Stephanie Kipp
    (Andersen Brothers) continuing as chair
  • 2018 Crop Year Unrestricted Research Grants Recommendation from Research
    CommitteeRecommendation: Approve the 14 research proposals at the levels proposed by the research committee for a total of $174,400. If any of the funding proposals are not
    accepted by researchers, it is recommended to increase the Willbur proposal up to
    $25,000 and any unused balance being applied to the Basso proposal up to the full
    funding requested of $21,600.
  • MPIC Grant Procedure Revisions
    Recommendation: Approve the revisions to the MPIC Grant Procedure (adopted
    June 19, 2013 by Commission) to include the following language:
    3. To protect commercial production of potatoes in Michigan, all proposals
    submitted must identify any potential risks and provide a mitigation plan to
    control that risk. Examples of risk such as the use of uncertified seed or trials
    inoculated with insects, nematodes, bacteria, or virus.
