Michigan Potatoes Teams Up With Spartan-Nash Stores
For 2019 Marketing Campaign

Michigan Potato Industry Commission is excited to announce the awarding of a USDA Block Grant which will be used in a retail marketing partnership with 90 Spartan-Nash corporate and independent stores across the state. 90 Michigan Potatoes branded orchard bins will be placed in Spartan-Nash corporate and independent stores to help consumers identify and ultimately purchase Michigan potatoes. The plan also includes 1.5 million Michigan Potatoes branded Kwik Loks with an opportunity for consumers to win free groceries.
Based on focus groups conducted it was identified that many consumers are unaware that potatoes are grown in Michigan and available for purchase. However, the focus group results also identified that consumers are looking for locally grown products and even willing to spend more. Our goal with the branded Kwik Lok campaign is to help consumers identify local Michigan potatoes and ultimately influence their decision to buy local.

The campaign is scheduled to begin January of 2019.
