The annual research report that compiles the results of the multiple research projects funded by the Michigan Potato Industry Commission (MPIC) is now available for growers, shippers and industry partners to download .

This year’s report (Volume 48) includes in total eleven different research reports including breeding and genetics; on-farm and research variety evaluations for both chipping and table stock; soil health research on cropping-system diversity, bio-based systems; cover crops; effect of soil fumigants on soil borne disease management; treatments for potato early die; entomology; and potato responses to nitrogen, phosphorous, and potassium.

“Research is continues to be the core of what we do to advance the industry” stated Mike Wenkel, Executive Director of MPIC. “It is an amazing accomplishment for the industry to successfully achieve the level of scientific research that is being done in laboratories, greenhouses and at the research farms along with the on-farm demonstration plots and activities in the industry’s demonstration storages on an annual basis.”

Everyone is encouraged to download  and apply the information learned to their operations. The commitment of cooperating growers, shippers, researchers, and suppliers have once again produced quality results.
